For years sadly most of the media has betrayed us so terribly. Hardly ever showing the hard, honest working people of this county, never pointing out the gifts this area has too offer. These videos are a personal biography through my eyes and what I see every day, the love for my family & the beauty of this county. All I ever wanted was for everyone to have a chance to see the Harlan County that we are proud of and that we love so much. It's going to break my heart when they begin to block my videos of Harlan County.. Thank You to The Kingdom Come State Park Kingdom Come State Park opened on June 11, 1961. At an elevation of 2,700 feet, Kingdom Come State Park is the crowning jewel in the crest of Pine Mountain. Named after the popular Civil War novel "The Little Shepherd of Kingdom Come," the park preserves 1,283 acres of unspoiled wilderness. Kingdom Come State Park is also home to some astonishing Raven Rock, a 290-foot high monolith that tilts at a 45-degree angle & Nearby is the Cave Amphitheater with lighting & seating, for groups needing a natural setting for meetings and you can also find deep crevices that house thousands of bats. Also within the park is a natural sandstone bridge called "Log Rock", which greatly resembles a petrified tree which has fallen over. Alongside many of the campsites are playgrounds for children & many rock faces that teenagers & climbing enthusiasts enjoy. At Kingdom Come State Park you can fish for largemouth bass, bluegill, catfish & crappie in a 3.5-acre mountain lake. On weekends, the park rents pedal boats to take out on the lake. The whole family can enjoy a round at the nine-hole miniature golf course before heading out on some of the 14 miles of hiking trails that take you through rugged terrain and to several of the rock formations. 4 mountain top overlooks that give visitors stunning vistas of Black Mountain and the Cumberland Plateau Access to the 38-mile Little Shepherd Trail that spines along the top of the mountain from Harlan to Whitesburg. Oh it was so gorgeous!!! at first though it was so cloudy, but at the end the sun finally came through! : ) I'm sorry to say we didn't have time to film the Log Rock or the Miniature Golf Course and many more Beautiful places in the Park, but we hope to come back next Spring & film more : ) At first you will see the beautiful Gazebo, with it's brilliant view, then some of their Playgrounds & Shelters. Then the lovely Lake, which I love!!! especially the sweet ducks : ) it was so hard to leave it : ) After the Lake, up the beautiful path to the Cave Amphitheater, which is awesome!!! then up to the Raven Rock with it's magnificent view.
