Who is Hatsune Miku?
Hatsune (HAH-tsoo-neh) Miku is the green-haired character in this video. She is the mascot for a character in VOCALOID2, which is a program that enables song-writers to create realistic singing on their computers. There are many other mascots in VOCALOID2, like the yellow twins Kagamine (kah-gah-MEE-neh) Rin and Len, or the nostalgic Megurine (meh-goo-REE-neh) Luka. However, the hot pink drill-haired girl in this video, Kasane Teto (KAH-sah-neh TEH-toe), is actually an UTAUloid, UTAU being a spinoff program of VOCALOID that you can download for free. Akita Neru (ah-KEE-tah NEH-roo), the blonde with the cellphone, doesn't have an official voice. Usually, create her a voice by changing the pitch or speed of Miku's voice. Only two other people have used Rin's instead.
What does "baka" mean?
"Baka" is the Japanese insult word for someone with low-intelligence. It is most commonly translated as stupid, idiot, or fool. Baka can be from a very rude meaning, like dumbass, to a more innocent meaning, like silly, depending on how you say it and who you're talking to.
What's this song about?
Miku stayed up on her computer all night and eventually fell asleep. She wakes up the next day in front of her monitor. Miku calls herself stupid for getting hooked when there were so many other things she could be doing, like crying or laughing or getting angry ("having a life"). Even her boyfriend stood her up.
What do the two kanji symbols in the title mean?
驫 looks like three of 馬, said "ba", while 麤 looks like three of 鹿, said "ka". It's kind of like a pun, because putting "ba" and "ka" together would obviously make "baka", and if you use kanji that resembles three of them, it could be thought of as triple baka. (Thanks to orangebhuddy29 for clearing that up.)
