Hemali Bhuta: The Art Space Is Spectacular or Invisible

The art object is almost dead for me. I consider the translation of my work its value. Project 88 is the gallery that represents me and it's my third solo show. The previous one was in 2012-13 and this one is the folding of that show. There are two ways to approach the space, either there's something spectacular about it or there's a sense of absence or invisibility in it. I like the idea of looking beneath your feet and under the crust of the earth. There are materials which come from different parts of the world and all of them are recycled. You discover the formation of landscapes. There's a whole concern about how a solid turns into a liquid and how it re transforms itself. There's a change of form and it's like an object reincarnating into the other. I try and explain the change through my work and that change must be celebrated.
