Herpetological Societies | Their Roles in Herpetoculture

In this weeks show we will be discussing the aspects of herpetological societies and their roles in herpetoculture. We will also dive into how they have survived the popularity of the internet and social media. Kat Kyle is the vice president Southern Nevada Herpetological Society. Southern Nevada Herpetological Society has general meetings at the UNLV Coop, 8050 Paradise Road, Suite 100, Las Vegas,  Nevada 89123. On the first Friday of every other month. SNHS is dedicated to the education of its members, and the public, in reguards to the conservation, ecology, and captive care and breeding of reptiles and amphibians. Madison Herpetological Society meets at Westwood Christian Church 5210 Odana Road Madison, WI 53711 and hold two hour meetings every month. These consist of current events and updates within MAHS and an open discussion topic.  Topics range from “Proper Cleaning Procedures” to “Current Public Events.”  During their second hour of their meeting they have a guest speaker. CHS was formed to educate the general public about reptiles, promote conservation of all wildlife, especially reptiles and amphibians, and to encourage cooperation between amateur and professional herpetologists toward a broader and deeper knowledge of this fascinating field. CHS  holds meetings at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. This beautiful new building is at Fullerton Parkway and Cannon Drive, directly across Fullerton from the Lincoln Park Zoo. Meetings are free and open to the public. Meeting dates are the last Wednesday of each month. Chris Law is the owner and curator of Central Florida Roaming Reptiles. Central Florida Roaming Reptiles is public educational outreach program that regards both native and exotic reptiles and amphibians.
