Hiam Abbas, Palestinian director of Le Donne della Vucciria

Palestinian actress and director Hiam Abbas shot her short film Le Donne della Vucciria in Palermo, on the Italian island of Sicily, for the Miu Miu Women's Tale project, presented during the Venice Film Festival's Venice Days. "Although there are cultural differences between Sicily and Palestine, I still find some similarities... Just going around [Sicily], I was shocked [by] how many references would bring me back to who I am. It felt like part of my culture is a mixture of this culture with something else that I live. It's maybe between the Orient and the Occident in a way."
