The aim of this project was to discover and address the needs of people in their work spaces. Initial research led to discoveries about a variety of different people's working habits. The project then focused on people who are employed by businesses but do much of their work at home, a concept known as "homesoursing" recently popularized by David Neeleman of JetBlue Airways Corporation.
Further research with home workers living in small homes led to the discovered needs of more working space and a greater sense of privacy when working. These people were without the luxury of a home office, were without sufficient or appropriate space in their living room or bedroom for a permanent office desk, and often required to work sitting on their sofa or at their kitchen table which was inconvenient.
The product is a storage/shelving unit which rests against the wall but is able to be opened out to create a private work station when required. Once opened, work surfaces can be folded down, stored paperwork and accessories are easily accessible and an integrated stool provides seating.
