H.M.S. Pinafore is the third of Gilbert & Sullivan's 'Savoy' operas, preceded by 'Trial By Jury' and 'The Sorcerer'. It opened on May 25th, 1878 at London's Opera Comique Theatre, and ran for 571 performances. Hugely successful, it is popular to this day.
