10pm update on the Holy Jim Fire from our viewpoint in Temescal Valley. Around 1pm, the Horsethief Canyon area lit back up as the winds shifted and started approaching the community fast. The monsoonal moisture that was supposed to impact the area never showed and may have just complicated things. There were full fire lines with plenty of trucks and personnel ready to protect the community from the approaching blaze. A few last minute retardant lines were dropped just before the fire hit the last 100 yards or so before the houses. Things got dark fast and the winds picked up drastically so I finally had to make the call to leave. Not so much I was fearing loss of house, but it was an absolute fire storm and would not be safe for anyone. The community is currently under mandatory evacuation and no updates have been given otherwise, so I will update as soon as I am able to. Information can be obtained by calling 714-628-7085. Thank you to all the firefighters protecting our communities, we cannot thank y'all enough!!!
