Horse and Hound Young Rider Bursary -submitted late so not included =(

Hey, I'm Jennifer Galuszka. I don't come from a very wealthy or horsey family, and have never been able to buy a 'ready made' horse. After several years in the riding school and years of begging, I finally got my first own horse at 13years old, and this was Milo. He has taught me everything I know, despite being relatively inexperienced when we bought him, and together we have grown into a partnership I think no-one, including myself ever expected. I moved up to competing at BE Novice level last year, however unfortunately Milo recieved a long term injury. His competition future is unknown, but I will never give up hope on him and perhaps one day he will return to competing sucessfully at Novice BE together. Revel is my youngster. Found him by chance at a yard where I did a uni riding competition. He wasn't for sale but the owners would consider one and I fell in love with him. He has done very little, only a couple of unaffilliated dressage and one clear round SJ show, but that was it. I am hopeful that one day he will become great like Milo and take me to Intermediate and above. Due to Milo's injury we were looking for an experienced event horse on loan. However with very few available, and those that are suitable asking very high lease prices (£110/week), which amounts to a huge amount of money. Therefore we have been looking at talented but tricky (and therefore cheap) younsters. Of course I would love to buy a ready made horse as so many people are given, but I'm so lucky to even have one horse to ride in Revel, and if you have produced a horse to a high level by yourself, no-one can take away that sense of achievement and that close bond that you have with your horse.
