In this edition of Advanced PowerPoint tutorials series, you will learn to create a light bulb in PowerPoint using 2010 or 2013 version. You can find more such tutorials at http://www.presentation-process.com/powerpoint-2010-2007-tutorials.html Light bulb is a common metaphor for Idea. So, naturally you find a lot of application for this graphic in business presentations. Let us learn to create this useful graphic from scratch in PowerPoint. First, let us pick up the Oval tool under Basic shapes in Auto shapes menu. Draw a perfect circle while holding the Shift key. Then, pick up the rounded rectangle tool under Rectangles. Place the rounded rectangle overlapping the bottom edge of the circle you created earlier. Select both the shapes and press shape union. This completes the glass covering for our bulb. The next step is to create the cap for the bulb. Go to rounded rectangle tool once again. Make a big rounded rectangle. Pull the yellow handles in the corner to the center. This ensures maximum curvature at the corners. Reduce the size of the shape. Make 2 more copies and arrange them below the upper part of the bulb. The last step is to pick the Flowchart: Manual Operation icon under Flow charts and place it below the three rounded rectangles stacked one on top of the other. You can remove the outline for the shapes and fill the color of your choice for the bulb to complete the graphic. Let me show you some variations of the bulb graphic taken from our PowerPoint CEO packs. In this example, you see the visual representation of poor and bright ideas. By just changing the fill color of the bulb we are able to show the differentiation. In this example, we use the bulb as a design element and as a concept graphic. In this example, we convey the concept of multiple thoughts emanating from one big idea.
