How to fix the LG washer / washing machine LE error code. Get the part here (USA): http://amzn.to/28YaQ3y or (in UK): http://amzn.to/2nvxhTT See the description below for more places to buy the part needed, for example from eBay. Quite a common fault this one. The motor position sensor causes this fault and here we go about changing it in order to fix the LG washing machine. Some people recommend the upgraded part 6501KW2002A instead of the original 6501KW2001A. That may work for some washers but for my model, an F1247TD, the 2002A part was not compatible as it was 5mm higher and made the coil pack stand off from the drum. I made it fit by grinding off some plastic as shown in this video. Probably easier to use the original part 2001A. There are conflicting stories as to whether the 2001A has been upgraded or not and the very original parts were definitely unreliable. You could say to be sure of no future problems then use the 2002A part and cut the plastic like I show here, I leave it up to you. Changing the sensor completely fixed my LG washer. I have also seen stories about fixing the problem by turning off the washer at the wall, rotating the drum 4 time left then right. Some people report that that works weirdly! But it didn't work for me and it doesn't sound like a very permanent fix anyhow. It is not hard to change the sensor, you need a 10mm and 17mm socket/wrench or spanners and a Phillips screwdriver. Threadlocking compound is an optional nice extra, which you can get from a local motor accessory shop, or online. If changing the sensor doesn't fix it, also check the wiring as vibration may have broken or loosened something. Also people talk about the LE code being caused by the wrong type of detergent being used! The water or detergent comes nowhere near the motor sensor so this must be bogus! The only way it could cause it in an indirect way is that it causes seal and bearing failure and then water gets on the sensor. This is not a problem that my LG had, the sensor just failed on its own. You can also buy the sensor on eBay if you prefer. Here are the links to use for the two different part numbers.
