How to perform a Running Subcuticular Closure: Common Errors

A running subcuticular closure is an excellent way to get good cosmetic results with reasonable speed (although slower than a simple running closure). The suture travels in the dermal plane and is buried beneath the epidermis. In this simulation silk suture is used in order to show up better on video. Ordinarily, silk suture would never be used for a subcuticular suture due to inflammatory response to the suture. Typically we would use an absorbable suture (monofilament or braided based on surgeon preference).
