Here's a little bit of advice and a lot of video from someone who arrived here unprepared for the elements. First off, check the forecast before you go on your trip. I didn't. Woops. For those of you who would rather waste ten minutes on youtube watching someone who's actually funny (I mean, I try sometimes, but who am I kidding...), here're the basics. 1. You're in Iceland. There are sheep everywhere. If you didn't bring wool clothing, catch a sheep. 1.1. Fleece is a good alternative to wool. Both these fabrics stay warm when they get wet. This is desirable as the weather can change from hot to raining in half an hour. 2. Wear layers. 3. WaterPROOF, not water-resistant. 4. For maximum appeal, wear sweatpants with elastic around the bottom. There you go. You're golden. Disclaimer: If you're planning on heading out to Iceland in the winter months, disregard this video. You'll freeze your pretty little nose off if you don't have a parka and ski pants. Clothes like these, however, should be adequate for travel during the typical tourist season, from May to August, unless you're planning on spending a lot of time camping in the north. And hey, I'm no expert, these are just my humble little pieces of advice. Also. Just to clarify, Akureyri is "the capital of North Iceland", not the whole country. Iceland isn't that tiny, haha. Enjoy! :)
