Leave a comment http://workathomemumsnetwork.com/wahm/how-to-train-your-husband/ This Sunday I was reading an article in the Sunday papers which claimed that most men AND women believe that: "...men can have both a successful professional life AND a fulfilling personal life, while trying to do both as a woman is difficult at best and impossible at worst." Crazy, right? Yet given the division of labour in most homes, this is often true. Especially if you are a WAHM! Yet the fact of the matter is that sharing financial and childcare responsibilities between parents leads to less guilty mums, more involved dads and, most important, happy and healthy children. I don't know about you, but when I started my first company from home, it was sheer hell. My husband (and to some extent I also) believed that paying the bills gave him carte blanche to do nothing around the house. I never considered how ME starting a business from home could actually benefit the WHOLE family. So it never occurred to me to ask my husband to muck in more with the chores and childcare, so I could spend some precious time talking shop. If you've ever felt this way then you are gonna llooooooovvveee this week's video! I don't know about you, but even though I loved being a stay at home mum, I was beginning to become a little bored. I hated admitting that I was bored because I knew that I was so lucky and there were tons of women who would kill to be in my position. And when I mentioned it to Ryan he just wasn't supportive in the way that I wanted him to be. I felt stuck and unable to move forward and was totally terrified to start something in case I failed. Can you relate? Going 50/50 is hard. Perfect equality in hard to define and indeed, to sustain. However, only when your husband takes on more responsibility at home, will you be able to have greater choices and flexibility. And this week's episode of WAHM TV will give you the exact strategies you need to get the ball rolling. And after you've watched it I want you to take action by leaving a comment below. What specific steps are you going to take in your business or home life to move forward? Remember to be clear, concise, specific and measurable.
