If you're just starting out, do not expect to actually do a full spin with the stick for a few days, if not more. Once you manage to get your fingers to actually go through the motions (specifically the pinky finger) you'll be able to spin it slowly; but without momentum, it's likely you'll drop it a lot. After a few days or weeks (depending on how much you practice) you can start to build up speed. Then it's smooth sailing!
