Can Positive Thinking & Affirmations Help with Erectile Dysfunction?
Positive Thinking as ED Remedy
Most of us know that it's a good idea to think and feel positive, because it just feels better. However, can positive thinking be used to treat erectile dysfunction?
According to an article by Chris Iliades, MD, titled Breaking the Link Between Depression and Erectile Dysfunction, “when you have erectile dysfunction, the last thing you want is a dual diagnosis of depression... Studies show that 35 to 47 percent of people with depression have problems with their sex life, 61 percent of people with severe depression have sexual problems, and up to 40 percent of people taking common antidepressant medications report a decline in sexual satisfaction. One study even found that 82 percent of men with erectile dysfunction also reported symptoms of depression.”
The point is that it really does pay to purposely think better feeling thoughts in order to feel good.
Every subject is something that we can either think a better feeling thought about, or not. It's really your choice. Every subject has either one of these two options.
So, why not choose the better feeling thought? According to an article by the Mayo Clinic Staff, titled Positive thinking: Stop negative self-talk to reduce stress, “positive thinking helps with stress management and can even improve your health. Practice overcoming negative self-talk with examples provided.”
A list of the benefits in the article are as follows:
Increased life span
Lower rates of depression
Lower levels of distress
Greater resistance to the common cold
Better psychological and physical well-being
Reduced risk of death from cardiovascular disease
Better coping skills during hardships and times of stress
The interesting thing is that they say that they do not really know why positive thinking has such an impact on ones life, but the evidence proves that it does.
The truth is that you do have control. You have the control of your thoughts. In the case of ED, you can either think positive thoughts about it, or negative ones.
For example, let's say that you just had an experience of not being able to perform sexually with your girlfriend or wife to your best ability.
You could either let it really get you depressed by thinking thoughts such as, “I'm such a failure!” or you could CHOOSE to think a thought such as, “Well, it's okay. I was rather too tired anyway.”
Usually, we are harder on ourselves than any one else would be.
