Inagta Festival 2019 - Siaton

The Inagta Festival 2019 of Siaton, Negros Oriental was nothing but success! Seven high school groups participated in this year's street dancing and showdown competition. The history of the Inagata festival started several years ago in the mountain areas of Siaton. There lived a tribe called "Agta". One day while the chief and his men were hunting the magical forest, the chief's wife was attacked by evil spirits and was ill. The only cure for evil spirit is the power of the "Diwata" or fairies. However, the fairies would only communicate with women. The chief dressed in his wife's clothes and faced the powerful fairies. Convinced enough, the fairy cured the wife. Until this day, the bravery of the Agta tribe is celebrated through the ritual dancing called Inagta Festival.
