Hawaiʻi continues to report one of the lowest monthly unemployment rates in the country – a little more than 2%. Many open positions in the market means that job seekers can be picky, especially in the retail and hospitality sectors. For employers, the situation is complicated: Hawaiʻi’s workforce is shrinking, with an older population at or near retirement and a younger population leaving for better opportunities on the Continent.
