Some verbs have a special structure in Spanish, the most common being "gustar". In these cases the subject of the verb is not the person but the things. So you do not say "I like cauliflower", but "Cauliflower is liked by me". Actually, the person who directs the action in the sentence is indicated somewhat like an indirect object. Other verbs of this style are: encantar, molestar, parecer, importer, doler, alegrar, preocupar and so on.
