Russia’s birth rate dropped by almost 11 per cent in 2017, to its lowest level in a decade. But Putin has come up with a new way of rewarding its citizens while addressing its population problems - The Order of Parental Glory award which honours the country’s largest families. Awarded to two large families (seven or more children) every year, it is the epitome of a Conservative, Nationalist, Russian ideal. Some of the mothers at the ceremony have been pregnant on and off, for 20 years.
