Jimmie Davis- Tom Cat and Pussy Blues [1932]

recorded for RCA Victor in 1932, this of course was one of the many Jimmie Rodgers imitators along with Gene Autry and Cliff Carlisle. However, this song goes beyond the boundaries of risque!! Davis went on to an illustrious career in both country and gospel music and also into politics where he served two non consecutive terms as governor of Louisiana. His signature song was the infamous You Are My Sunshine--a far cry from this little barnyard ditty !!!
