Jonny Gomes Red Sox Rays

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- Boston Red Sox outfielder Jonny Gomes faced one of his former teams the Tampa Bay Rays during a grapefruit league game Monday at Charlotte sports Park in Port Charlotte Florida. Gomes says within a few notable exceptions it's tough to be a veteran player on a small-market baseball club. Gomes also gave credit to Tampa Bay general manager Andrew Friedman and manager Joe Maddon for their work with young players on the roster to keep the organization fresh and on the rise.
