JOY ELLIS "Here in the Quiet"

JOY ELLIS vocals/piano/Rhodes, HANNES RIEPLER guitar, HENRIK JENSEN double bass & ADAM OSMIANSKI drums. *London-based singer, pianist and composer Joy Ellis performs a mix of original compositions and contemporary arrangements of old standards – her influences are Eliane Elias, Joni Mitchell and Esperanza Spalding. She has performed at numerous venues including Ronnie Scott's, the Barbican Pit Theatre and the Savoy Hotel. She achieved a Masters in Jazz Performance from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama graduating in 2008 and has performed with an array of fantastic musicians on the UK music scene including Omar Lye-Fook MBE, Anita Wardell and Nikki Iles. In 2012, she won 1st prize in the National BASBWE Festival for her composition for Concert Wind Band. Renowned British composer Philip Sparke described her as a "composer with an original voice and the means to express it".
