Keynote at AWS Community Day SF 2017

AWS Community Day is a free, community-organized event featuring technical discussions led by expert AWS users and community leaders. On June 15, 2017 we had the very first AWS Community Day in San Francisco at the Marriott Marquis - just opposite the Intuit Office. The community leaders who helped organize were Kevin Epstein, Eric Hammond, Peter Sankauskas, Ben Whaley, Raj Meka, Teri Radichel, Valentino Volonghi, Ryan Park, Jeremy Edberg, and me. I led the team and coordinated with Amazon. AWS took care of all the logistics. The main driver from Amazon's side was Ross Barich. We picked Corey Quinn to be our emcee and he did not disappoint. I delivered the keynote along with Joshua Levy of Open Guides. It was short and sweet since it was my first keynote. This is a video of the last few minutes of my talk. The video is not clear and the audio is bad. I used a go-pro to record this. I guess thats not the best camera for this kind of video. No wonder they have expensive fancy cameras and equipment at conferences that cost an arm and a leg. But this video is all I have. I'm uploading it to youtube because it is taking up too much space on my laptop. The event was a success considering it was the first time. It was better than AWS Summit I thought. We expected 30% of the RSVPs to show up. We had a hair under 2000 registrants. Approximately 600+ showed up. I'll get the exact numbers later this week. It was on the same day as the Warriors victory parade in Oakland - so that might have had a very small impact on the attendance.
