A former Central Area boxing champion and English title challenger, a boxing coach, a manager and now a fight promoter Manchester's Kieran Farrell has done a lot in what has been a relatively short space of time. Farrell, 26, had to retire from boxing in 2012 after suffering a brain injury in a fight against current world champion Anthony Crolla. Farrell was told after he came out of a coma after the 10 round gruelling contest, that he would never box again. Down and depressed after the news, it wasn't long before he found the strength to begin a new careering the sport he loves. He opened a gym on the street where he lives, got his coaches licence, manager licence and recently applied for his promoters licence. He held his first show on Friday 24th June 2016 and it was a great success. In just four years since retiring, this honest fighting man has achieved amazing things and is a credit to himself and his family. In this video at Kieran's home in Heywood, he speaks about his new role as a promoter and the ups and downs of putting on his first show at the Middleton Arena in Manchester. Recently honoured in the Queen's birthday honours as a BEM for his services to boxing and his community, 2016 has already been another year of massive progress for the determined Farrell, who is creating his new destiny with the same spirit and drive he had as a fighter.
