KOF Klub is about to introduce you to one of SNK's cheapest final bosses in its dark history.
I don't think Leopold Goenitz needs an introduciton, but I'd best do one anyway
In 1996, SNK released the third in their much lvoed KOF series. KOF 96 proved to be a REAL surprise hit. I personally love the game and if I couldn't play 98 or 94, I'd pick this as my third. This managed ot rejig the gameplay HUGELY from 94 and 95, to the point wher eit felt like a different game.
One aspect people noticed was the difficulty of the game. Especially its final boss: A priestly-seeming man known as Leopold Goenitz.
Once the player managed to get through all teams and defeat the difficult sub-boss Chizuru, she tells the playe rof the dreaded Orochi power and implores you to help her destroy it. Sadly, a foul wind descends upon the arena. The tournament grandstad ends up completely demolished and Chizuru ends up wounded. The culprit is a blue clad priest, named Leopold Goenitz.
Goenitz wants to help awaken Orochi, and serves as his herald.
I am not exaggerating when I say that Goenitz will make you tear your hair out. Especially his Yonokaze move, which is guaranteed to hit you or your fireball, each and every time you fire it off. Naturally, Goenitz is made even more cheap by the fact that he can use his highly-damaging DM moves when his super bar isn't even filled. He is just THAT DAMN Cheap.THIS IS WHY HE IS KNOWN AS SNK'S KING OF CHEAP.
After being beaten, Goenitz STILL doesn't lose his smug demeanour, saying you're bollocksed either way. Then he proceeds to tornado himself to death....or split into multiple wind slices. WHo knows?
As it was, there was no known way to actually PLAY as Goenitz.
But today, we now live in the world of super hackers adn I can happily confirm that not only is Goenitz fully playable, but even has his own ending coded in! ( http://www.vgmuseum.com/end/neogeo/b/kof96goe.htm ) Granted he dies even there, but hey, at least they gave him an ending, unlike Rugal.
And if oyu go to this site: http://randomhoohaas.flyingomelette.com/SUPERGALVATRONSCORNERSHOP/GamesFeatures/SSSS/main.html you can get yourself a save sttate and try out SNK's King of Cheap right now! Its being updated irregularly so keep checking it.
Anyway, here's Goenitz'seve so cheap moves:
Yonokaze/KOKO DESU KA: HCF and any buton: Its the move you love to hate. Since it uses all four attack buttons, it can attack at any distance corresponding to the button you used. KOKO DESU KA KOKO DESU KA KOKO DESU KA KOKO DESU KA
Yanpyu Tokobuse/Mametsu: QCB and any punch: Goenitz snaps his fingers. Slicing winds proceed to cut the opponetn up in a very bloody fashion. Lovely stuff.
Hyuga (No relation to Neji or Hinata): QCB and any kick: Goenitz teleports. ISn't he cheap enough already?
DESPERATION MOVE: SUPER MAIDEN MASHER: QCB, HCF and any Punch: Basically its Iori's Maiden Masher with added wind effects fo rthe SDM version, adn a lot more blood. Whast more, Goenitz can fire this off at any time. Evne when his DM bar is empty. Cheap bastard.
DESPERATION MOVE: Dark Tornado: HCBx2 and any Punch: Goenitz snatches his opponetn by the hair and summons a tornado from below. It hurts. A LOT. Especially the SDM version.
Anyway, oyu can even have Goenitz's winquotes since I'm nice:
-Now the world will burn in Hates' flames! And Chaos reigns!
-With your pathetic performance, here ends Humanity!
-Your invitation has brought your own destruction. TOODLES!
And thats all from me. Enjoy the vid, I guess.
