내달부터 국제선 항공권에 유류할증료 부과 The nation's flagship air carriers will reintroduce fuel surcharges for international flights next month after almost a year and a half of waiving them due to low fuel prices. The charge will apply to tickets issued in February, regardless of the departure date. And this time, it'll work differently. Before, the airlines charged a flat fee based on the destination country -- meaning the same amount for Hawaii and New York. But now, they'll base the charge on the duration and distance of the flight. Fees for Korean Air will range from 1-thousand-200 won,... or about 1 U.S. dollar... to a maximum of 9-thousand-600 won -- about 8 dollars -- while Asiana Airlines will charge between 1 dollar and 5 dollars. The fees had been set at zero since September 2015, but they're back up because the price of Singapore jet fuel has risen above the standard of a dollar-50 per gallon.
