Lakes Tarawera & Rotomahana - June 2012

3-day kayak trip to Lakes Tarawera & Rotomahana over Queen's Birthday weekend - June 2012 Friday afternoon- Travelled from Auckland down to Rotorua & Tarawera and stayed at a bach on the lake Saturday - left in fog, headed to Te Rata Bay (Hot Water Beach) Sunday - left early for the 700m portage over to Lake Rotomahana and wonder at the steaming cliffs & geysers Monday - explored the other hots pools and streams along from Hot Water Beach and headed back to base. Drove back to Auckland in the evening.
