•For example:
When a mother's estrogen levels peak during pregnancy, proteins (called connexins) assemble in the uterine wall that allow contact between neighboring cells, One by one as these cells coordinate & synchronize, the momentum of labor contractions is established. A hormone oxytocin is also released from the posterior pituitary gland causing the uterus to contract even more forcefully. These contractions eventually become strong enough to push the baby out of the uterus through the birth canal & into the world.
