As the community hearings on Enbridge's proposed Northern Gateway Pipeline and Tanker project wrap up, join us for an evening of powerful stories that highlight the need for all of us to take a stand to protect our water from oil spills. On, January 31, 2013, ForestEthics Advocacy hosted an evening with speakers from communities impacted by devastating oil spills. Michelle Barlond-Smith came from Kalamazoo Michigan and explains her community's continued battle with health and still have not received compensation for their losses. Leah George Wilson is from the Tseil'Waututh First Nation and was heavily involved with the 2010 Chevron refinery oil spill in Burnaby. Melina Laboucan-Massimo is a Lubicon Cree from Northern Alberta. Her community lives with over2600 oil wells on their territory. In 2011, a pipeline ruptured sending 4.5 million liters into lands adjacent to her community. Share your stories or experiences you've had with oil spills in your community.
