Learning Guitar Scales (What Most Players Don't Know...)

Learning guitar scales will be easier than ever before once I show you my special 'trick' to easily learn, memorise and get started using any new guitar scale you need to learn. Most guitar players just play up and down their scales and think that it's going to help them memorise them... it kind of does, but the trouble is we don't just play up and down scales when we solo (at least we shouldn't be!). I like to use the 'random note' exercise to learn my scales. Simply establish a steady rhythmic pulse and then mix up the notes in completely random order. Sure, it doesn't sound like much, but it trains you to be able to move to any note from any note anytime you use the scale shape. You'll end up knowing it on a much deeper level, and this will help you use it fluently to jam and solo. Take a scale, try it for a week and see for yourself... good luck! Want more from me?
