Hello everyone! I’m back again (this time with a video!) documenting my second successful attempt at taking down a level 3 raid boss. This time was Machamp, I’ve heard it’s possible from many, just depending on its move set. I was successful once more wanted to share my story to inspire others who may not be fully leveled but still want to attempt this.
Machamp: Counter/Heavy Slam
Attempt 1: I use a mixture of Alakazam, Espeon, Exeggutor, Flareon,Dragonite and Lugia to get it in the red (Lugia wasn’t cutting it for me).
Attempt 2: Espeon immediately goes down to Heavy Slam, so I just quit out.
Attempt 3: I decide to try the new screen capture method (go figure it made the phone a bit more laggy though) and here is the team:
- Level 30.5, CP 2520, 80% Espeon w/ Confusion/Future Sight
- Level 31, CP 2466, 87% Alakazam w/ Confusion/Future Sight
- Level 33, CP 2600, 93% Exeggutor w/ Confusion/Seed Bomb
- Level 24, CP 2450, 98% Dragonite w/ Dragon Tail/Outrage
- Level 30.5, CP 2456, 87% Flareon w/ Fire Spin/Overheat
- Level 30.5, CP 2197, 82%, Gengar w/ Shadow Claw/Shadow Ball
First I really am grateful for the implementation of TM’s as pretty much all these guys had the least optimal move set before. As I go in I realize I just put my best dragon in a gym, so I have to go with the next one down. The psychic types do a bulk of the damage here and the other string attackers come in to finish it off. This was definitely a better matchup for me than Gengar was. I did take a look at PokeBattler beforehand to help with the matchup. Even better, you all don’t have to hear the loud construction that was going on beside me. Best of luck to those completing these solo raids!
