The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) operates one of the last remaining airworthy Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress aircraft in the world. This bomber was decisive in WWII: a magnificent piece of engineering, it was operated by aviators in extreme conditions - flying missions at high altitudes (up to 35000 feet), the unpressurized cabin could reach temperatures well below -30° C. Today, volunteer crews tour the US every spring and summer with the EAA's B-17 named "Aluminum Overcast": you can find tour dates at www.b17.org. I have flown many vintage aircraft (Lufthansa's JU-52, Air Service Berlin's DC-3, and the EAA's Ford Trimotor), but this was by far the best experience. The Air Traffic Control conversation downloaded from Liveatc.net is added to the video but not synced to the photographs I took.
