Callaway CW. Questioning the use of epinephrine to treat cardiac arrest. JAMA. 2012;307(11):1198-1200. doi:10.1001/jama.2012.313. This is the third article in the reading list for 2015. The editorial stresses the fact that this paper questions common practice and actually opens the door to a clinical trial to really put this to the test. The other big point is the difference between surrogate outcomes and patient-oriented outcomes. The former are things that seem like they'd be important, but patients don't care about. The latter are, obviously important to patients -- like being alive mentally intact. I got a new microphone and while the sound is better than the iPhone earbuds apparently I need a pop filter. Hope you can bear with the plosives. Otherwise, enjoy. Put comments below.
