magnetic cogging

I discovered something simple: the magnetic center with permanent magnets is off ! This is one of the reasons my mendocino starts cogging at a certain frequency. I don't know this for other than cylindrical magnets but it can explain my problem with the mendocino. maybe someone knows more about this? please let me know.
