Malala Yousafzai starts school in Birmingham, five months after she was shot in the head by Taliban gunmen in Pakistan. The 15-year-old joined other pupils at Edgbaston High School for Girls for her first day back at school on Tuesday. "I think it is the happiest moment that I'm going back to my school and today I held my books, my bag and I will learn and talk to my friends, I will talk to my teacher and I think there is no more important day than this day," she said. Malala was airlifted to Britain for treatment after Taliban gunmen shot her while she was on her way home from school in northwestern Pakistan on October 9. The militant group said it targeted her because she promoted "western thinking" and criticised the group's behaviour when it took over the scenic Swat Valley where she lived.
