The 1790 Maryhill flight of 5 locks (21 - 25) on the Forth & Clyde Canal were opened in 1790 and they were restored in 1988. The Kelvin Aqueduct when built was the largest engineering feat since the time of the Romans - it was designed by Robert Whitworth.
