Now that I have settled on my springs, I am testing shock oils. I started with both stock pistons and the Fioroni 4 ball pistons, but I abandoned the stock pistons after testing 25wt. I noticed the stock pistons gave the appearance of lower ride height on the bench, even though I didn't change the spring perches. This change of ride height is deceptive, because the dynamic ride height isn't changing. Raising the ride height on the bench to my predetermined setting resulted in a higher ride height when in motion on the dyno. I preferred the behavior of the Fioroni pistons anyway, and they seem more honest about ride height between the bench and dynamically. And they react more smoothly in my interpretation of the results. My goal is not to be perfectly scientific, but to answer my own questions...so I proceeded in the direction most likely to answer my questions. An interesting observation is that the oil combination where the front and rear wheels land in the same amount of time is at 30/25we oils. But the point where the chassis rides the smoothest is at 40/25wt. For the time being I believe the 40/25 is the optimal ratio, but I may revisit the lighter front oil if I am needing more steering.
