Meet the Leader: H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud Part II

This is the second part of a two part Meet the Leader interview with H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, the current President of the Republic of Somalia, where he discusses his background, his vision for Somalia, and the challenges of leading the country in a period of rebuilding and reconciliation. A civil and political activist, Mohamud was previously a university professor and dean. He is also the founder and Chairman of the Peace and Development Party (PDP). In April 2013, Mohamud was named to the *Time* 100, *TIME* magazine's annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world. His efforts at advancing national reconciliation, anti-corruption measures, and socio-economic and security sector reforms in Somalia were cited as reasons for the selection. UONGOZI Institute (www.uongozi.or.tz) exists to support African leaders to attain sustainable development for their nation and for Africa. We seek to inspire leaders and promote the recognition of the important role of leadership in sustainable development. The institute is based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
