AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK Rob Gray, Jr. • So. • G • Houston Gray averaged 23.5 points, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game in a 2-0 week for Houston. In an 81-66 win over Tulsa on Wednesday, the sophomore posted 16 points with a pair of shots from beyond the arc. In Saturday’s 97-93 double overtime win at East Carolina, Gray tied his career-high with 31 points and made a career-best six 3-pointers. He also set personal bests in field goals made (11), field goal attempts (21) and steals (4) vs. the Pirates. AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Galen Robinson, Jr. • Fr. • G • Houston Robinson helped Houston to a 2-0 record last week with wins against Tulsa and at East Carolina. He opened the week with a career-high 19 points and led all scorers in Wednesday’s win over the Hurricane. Robinson made 8-of-11 from the field and dished out four assists in the victory. He scored 10 of his 12 points in the second half versus East Carolina on Saturday and led the Cougars with seven assists.
