http://www.facebook.com/Mezokracja?ref=ts "Spiral of Hate"- a debate between Osama Bin Laden, Oriana Fallaci and Ryszard Kapuściński "Spiral of Hate" is a song which addresses the issue of tension in the relations between the Muslim World and what is broadly understood to be the culture of Western Civilization. More specifically, it deals with the response to the terrorism of Muslim extremists. The first stanza is an accusation, or in fact an open declaration of war against the godless civilization of the West promoting hedonistic and materialist attitudes. Though it might be a simplification, I believe that the opinions presented there might have been voiced by Osama Bin Laden. It is a radical vision of a struggle against the Western World in the name of Jihad (I am well aware that this frequently misconstrued word posses in fact a deeper meaning, and that the major Muslim leaders do not consider the actions of Muslim extremists as true Jihad neither in legal nor theological understanding of that term). The second stanza is a passionate and angry response to the terrorist aggression. It is a defense of the values that the Western World managed to develop throughout the ages: democracy, free market economy, and tolerance for minority groups. The tone here is highly emotional and far from politically correct - similar to what I believe, could have been said by Oriana Fallaci. The third stanza is an attempt to halt the spiral of hate (hence the title of the song). It is a mediating voice which argues that a potential conflict between the civilizations, as predicted by Samuel Huntigton, would lead us to nowhere. It is a call for respecting cultural difference, a call for a search for common values - all of which would allow us to peacefully coexist in today's globalized world. This opinion I see as being similar to the one held by Ryszard Kapuściński. But what about my role in this song? What is my personal opinion? Though I speak here in the voices of three different people, representing three different attitudes, it seems obvious to me that the spiral of hate can be halted only through a careful consideration of the problem and a search for positive solutions. My favorite author and an undisputed authority in that matter is Ryszard Kapuściński, and I do agree with the views he held. There is a certain degree of truth in the arguments of both sides yet it cannot be forgotten that hate always breeds hate, thus creating a vicious circle. I would also like to emphasize that I do not oppose religion as long as it is not used to harm others. I am well aware that Muslim extremists represent only a small fraction of the peaceful Muslim World --yet a fraction which is very loud, harmful and brings infamy to the entire religion, just as it is done by any other religious extremist groups. Furthermore, the rage and anger which fills us every time we hear about the victims of terrorist attacks, though justified, should not lead to perceiving all Muslims as supporting such violent actions. All people, therefore, should be judged not by their religion, race or nationality, but rather their attitudes and actions http://www.youtube.com/user/umcmymusic - Subskrybuj kanał Youtube wytwórni My Music
