The irony is that he wasn't selected for the NBA's Rising Stars game. Despite the snub, MPJ has shown the potential the world thought he could in the NBA. His streak in January began with a then-career high 25 points against the Pacers. He continued until an ankle injury 6 games before the All-Star break. In this video we look at Michael Porter Jr.'s inspiring story and question if he'll ever become the star he was destined to be. Michael Porter Jr. was the number 1 basketball recruit in America and comes from an athletic family. He could have gone to any university he wanted but chose Missouri. His "career" at Mizzou only lasted a few games after he injured his back. After falling in the draft to number 14 MPJ needed yet another surgery and sat out his first season with the Nuggets. This year he finally debut'd as an NBA player and expectations were a lot lower than they had been just a few years before. It took him a while to warm up but this January he broke out. That big game against the Pacers was followed by another against Golden State and then Milwuakee. MPJ was a legitimate NBA contributor showing signs of future stardom but suffered a serious ankle injury that casts even more doubt on his future. Will his time in the league be like Derrick Rose - or worse - Greg Oden before him? Or will the Nuggets' gamble pay off and Porter Jr. eventually carries his team deep into the playoffs?
