Lead Vocals recorded by Michele Guaitoli using: - AKG C1000 Microphone (Used only for this song as recording test instead of using Neumann TLM103 as for all my other recordings, found the AKGC1000 harsher and thin, as expected, but still with a good quality, considering the microphone type.) - Focusrite Liquid Channel (with an Avalon 737 Emulation preset) - Cubase 8 (Waves RVox as Compressor, Steinberg Deesser, Steinberg EQ, Waves Rverb, Steinberg Ping-Pong Delay) Vocal notes: I recorded this song to test some vocal resonances: I got impressed by some solutions used by Francesco Renga in his original version. A few quite-nasal sounds made the way to get a good 'focus' much easier, and at the same time affected the overall agility, improving both speed and precision making it very easy to move through the extension, even in larger intervals. The melody of the song, from the verses to the refrains, is based on jumping from low to mid-high notes, leaning on short additional notes that are often different. The timbre used also made the sound pretty smooth in the mid-high sections, without bringing to a losing of energy/body but at the same time maintaining the overall sound in tune with the pop style of the song. I also find some harmonics born from these resonances very interesting. ...so yes, if you find it "close to the original" and "impersonal" or "away from my/Overtures style", I agree, and I'm pretty sure you will find an answer to your "why" question on the lines above.
