You can use this to surprise attack your friends with homing missiles that make you fly! To those who are saying 'Couldn't you just place a piston facing upwards and retract the one block' Yes, you could, If you only wanted the Shulker to be at floor level. However, if you place it any higher then the piston will be visible and that is pretty rubbish. This design means that you can place it at whatever height you like.
