We built two small trebuchets for a school project a couple years back. They use a cigar box filled with lead shot for a counterweight, are made of oak, and use a wheel and free-hanging counterweight design. This allows the trebuchet to function with a smoother motion, and more efficient use of the weight. We shoot golf balls with the larger one about 30-40 yards. The smaller one was our first build so it has a much lesser range of 15-20 yards. Also, we did not use any plans or instructions to build them. Hope you enjoy!
