MULTIPLE HATS: WRITERS WHO PRODUCE, DIRECT, ACT AND MORE THERESA MULLIGAN Originally from Gary, Indiana, Theresa Mulligan Rosenthal moved to Los Angeles after living in Chicago and performing for the The Second City. After guest appearances on Seinfeld and Mr. Show, Theresa made her transition into writing on MTV's The Blame Game before moving into sitcom writing. She has been a television comedy writer for the last 13 years and her credits include The Loop, How I Met Your Mother and South Park. She most recently wrote and produced on a new show for Fox called Enlisted. She was also part of the writing team 'Freedom Jones' who wrote the cheerleading movie Fired Up. She's very excited to be back in Chicago, especially during one of its warmer, less snowy months. She would like to thank Chris Parrish for inviting her to be part of this conference and her husband Jeff for inviting her to be part of his life. GUINEVERE TURNER Guinevere Turner is a writer, director and actor who has been working in film and TV since her 1994 debut film Go Fish. She went on to act in several films, including The Watermelon Woman, Chasing Amy, and Treasure Island. Eventually she teamed up with Mary Harron to write American Psycho and The Notorious Bettie Page. She was a staff writer and story editor on Showtime's The L Word, and she played a recurring character on that show. She has written and directed five short films, two of which showed at the Sundance Film Festival, some of which played on TV and around the world, and some of which were completely ignored. She is currently working on raising money to direct her first feature film Creeps, from a script that she wrote. Moderated by: MICHAEL MCCARTHY Michael McCarthy as worked as a writer for Saturday Night Live, Sesame Street, Drew Carey, Mike And Molly, and several Comedy Central projects. As an actor, he spent three years on the main stage of The Second City, and has had guest appearances on Curb Your Enthusiasm, Cold Case, and Gilmore Girls. Other odd items include starting a comedy festival in Ireland, a morning radio show in Chicago, and co-writing a book with Arianna Huffington. He's currently working on a screenplay for MGM, and is proud of an alliance he's helped form between DePaul and The Second City to create news driven sketches in the web series Wait A Minute. He's married to Susan Messing and lives in Chicago, just off of the Irving Park Brown Line stop.
