This is a video detailing my 1st pepakura (paper craft) project building a comic book style Magneto helmet. The goal is that I will end up with a nice quality wearable replica.
Part 6:
I'm going through the process of applying resin to the outside of my helmet. This will make the helmet stronger and will help with retaining the shape when I need to apply fiber glass cloth to the inside as well as when i go to apply bondo to the outside to get it nice and smooth.
At this stage I am taking my paper helmet and applying the liquid and letting it sit over night. Normally it should only take a few hours to dry... however it's mid november here in NY and it's starting to get really cold out. The process of drying took a little longer than it normally would.
** Make sure you wear gloves and a mask when applying the resin. The fumes are very toxic. Also make sure you are doing this outside or in a well ventilated room.
You can find the Resin at Walmart in the automotive section. The container I bought came with the liquid hardener however I bought extra incase i needed it.
