This is the duet with which we ended the first part of our concert at Christofis Mansion on 20 March and it is based on John Glenn Paton's edition. In the original opera the scene takes place infront of a millhouse. Rachelina,a well off "müllerine" is at work -an innovation one could say, for in previous times that realism would be unthinkable- wondering at what has made her heart miss a beat, since she is past her prime. The reason is Calloandro, a young suitor still in his youthful ardour who is obliged to be married. He sings the second half of the duet. Then after a short recitative it is sung by yet another suitor, Pistolfo. Athina Vassiliou took part of Rachelina, Vassilis Bouris took the part of Calloandro and Maria Neofytidou graced us with her wonderful and concise performance at the piano.
