Opening Speech at First ActionAbility+ Event

Steve Bowditch, the Mayor of Carlisle, kindly agreed to open this event for us at James Rennie School in Carlisle. This was the first attempt to bring together a full range of service providers and product suppliers to inform people with disabilities, their families, carers and professional support workers; just what is available in the Carlisle area. There has been a large scale event at Rheged in the past but nothing that tries to open the doors for people at a local level. Something that serves the disabled community in and around Carlisle. It was pitched as an information day and all exhibitors were put on their best behaviour to avoid an overtly salesy approach and it was very refreshing to see how all the involved businesses stuck closely by that ethos.
