OPPOSITION PROTESTS AGAINST ROHAN'S ARREST; SPEAKER MARSHALLS THEM OUT DURING BUDGET

Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly Rajesh Patnekar has adjourned the house 4 times, after Opposition MLAs comprising of Congress, Goa Forward and MGP created uproar over arrest of Independent MLA from Porvorim, Rohan Khaunte.Opposition has stated that investigation should have been conducted whether the complaint against Khaunte is true or false. Poriem MLA and senior Congress MLA Pratapsingh Rane has alleged that it is a breach of privilege. Speaker Rajesh Patnekar has stated that he has given permission to police to arrest Rohan Khaunte based on report provided to him by them. He has informed that police has still not asked him for CCTV footage and that he would provide them with it if they ask. Opposition continued to created uproar while Chief Minister Pramod Sawant presented the budget. Finally, Speaker was left with no other choice but escort the agitating MLAs out of the house.
